The Aston Martin DB9 comes in two variant and was first launched in 2004. The variants are coupe and convertible.
Design Process – This model has been designed and developed with the help of Ford’s VH (Vertical/Horizontal) Platform. The Aluminum body is moulded together with composites which are held mechanically by self-piercing rivets. Adhesive bonding techniques which are robotic in nature also helps to maintain the body of the car. This car is much lighter than its predecessor while having higher torsion rigidity. These features can be attributed to the highly innovative Aluminum body structure of the car.
Technical specifications – The overall length of the car is 4750 mm and the width is 1978 mm. The wheelbase is 2741mm. The weight of the car is 1250 kg while the maximum horsepower is 600HP both following the 2010 regulations. Aston Martin boasts of a 48 valve engine completely made of alloy. The clutch has four plates while both the front and rear brakes are six pot calipers with 330mm carbon discs. The front as well as the rear suspension has adjustable Koni dampers which are fixed with Eibach springs on double wishbone, front and rear. The gear box is longitudinally mounted on the rear-axle, a six-speed sequential transmission.
