It is certainly a great year for the Vitaphone Maserati pair as they win the 2010 FIA GTI World Championship especially after they finished 12th place in the qualifying rounds at San Luis. At the event, Andrea Bertolini and Michael Bartels were crowned as the champions and they were really thrilled to receive the crown. Apart from that their closest rival who had the chances of being in the top three spot ended up being at the 10th spot which was a shocker to a lot of people. Darren Turner and Tomas Enge in the Young Driver AMR Aston Martin No 7 were considered to be in the top three but somehow they could never manage to get there.
Michael Bartels spoke to the press and stated that this championship was certainly not in comparison with any other championships that they had seen because they had some of the best teams which were up against each other and they had different strategies in their mind. He also stated that he was really happy and satisfied that they were able to beat some of the best teams in the world and that could only happen because they had new rules that they had to adapt to and therefore they were able to beat the best.
He said that he and Bertolini were very good together because they understand each other better which was an advantage to them. Hence, they were able to do fewer mistakes than other drivers in the race. Speaking to the public Bertolini said that Maserati is like a family and therefore they work together as teams rather than individuals. He further expressed his happiness saying that this race was an excellent show with some of the best teams up against each other and they were happy that they together got the opportunity to work for Vitaphone team.
