If you are interested in circuit racing you should certainly know about Vitaphone Racing taking over Matech Competition in the race that happened in Portimao. The temperature around was already 27 degree Celsius but by the time the race would begin the temperature soared up to 38 degree Celsius and the race began at around 15:30 local time in Portugal. The start was quite decent and Peter Dumbreck from Sumo Power GT decided to race ahead without any damage or harm to his car. Nicky Pasterolli who was in his Lamborghini was right behind in the second spot but soon collided with Enrique Bernoldi of Vitaphone Racing Maserati MC12. In the event, Jamie Campbell-Walter of Sumo Power GT was also hit in the collision and had no option but to retire from the race.
Although, Dumbreck had a good start he was not able to overtake Andrea Bertolini. However, when the pit opened, both Dumbreck and Bertolini came to the pit and Darren Turner who was third at that point of time decided to stay out of the track. He finally came back after 30 minutes and handed over his Aston Martin DBR9 to Tomas Enge. In the mean time, Michael Bartels was the first driver to move out of the pit.
Richard Westbrook who was initially on the fifth spot did well to race up and he was soon right behind Tomas Enge. Richard Westbrook and Alex Margaritis soon overtook Tomas Enge, but Michael Bartels was still leading the race. Although, it looked like Westbrook would defeat Bartels, the Vitaphone Racing driver was still 2.5 seconds ahead in the last lap and gained 1.1 seconds in the 34th lap which was the finishing lap. Finally, Bartels won the first place, with Westbrook taking the second spot and Alex Margaritis taking the third spot to conclude the event.
